When the Rethuglicans (and many Democrats) talk about "entitlement" reform, their sloppy dialog lumps Medicare, Medicaid and SSI into the same bucket. But based on CBO projections, SSI is not the problem, but healthcare spending is.
If we cannot be specific about what the challenges are, how can we possibly tackle them? Clearly, healthcare spending is out of control and we know why: private health insurance is untenable. It's time for a rational, national dialog on single-payer. It's the only thing that will save our economy. So many other nations have figured this out and they have reasonable controls over their healthcare spending and have better health outcomes than we do.
