Apparently Science Happens to Other People

It's no wonder given the state of our educational system in the current political climate, but this is the dumbest thing I've seen on Twitter in months... And I've seen some pretty dumb shit.  In an argument of the popularity (or lack thereof) of the Tea Party, Jaycen Rigger claimed that the Tea Party was a popular movement.  I countered that, contrary to the belief of the Tea Partiers, the Tea Party was actually quite unpopular and a recent poll found that 40% of Americans had an unfavorable view of the Tea Party.  Check out Mr. Science's response here when I point him at the polling data from the New York Times and CBS News poll...
Actually, 3000 people giving their opinion is scientific.  But in this case, had you read the poll, you'd realize that the N for this poll was 960 and the margin of error was +/- 3%.  And it's still scientific because it's a statistically significant sample.  Perhaps, before weighing in on a subject, you might want to, you know, actually know something about it before you make a silly comment.  Or better yet, just stop pretending to know anything about statistics and leave it to the adults.
