There's an exciting new site called The World Top Incomes Database where you can compare top-level income distribution across many countries. Just for kicks I compared Australia, France, Sweden and The United States. Looking at data from 1960 - 2009, here's what it looks like:
America is clearly the outlier here, but anyone who's paid attention to the redistribution of wealth upwards will not be surprised. Go forth and excavate!
Unfortunately, I don't. This blog has become somewhat dormant recently because I've joined forces with some colleagues over at BloggingBlue. But I may resurrect it soon... I have some deeper economic postings I want to do and they don't really fit in with the BloggingBlue ethos. :-)
